H.R. 1940 – The “Respect State Marijuana Laws Act”

- Amends the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) to include a provision making the provisions of the CSA relating to marijuana inapplicable to persons and businesses operating in compliance with state marijuana laws; the bill addresses myriad public safety issues caused by the tension between state and federal marijuana laws; including patients and providers at risk of arrest and prosecution and marijuana businesses unable to access banking services, among others.
